What Is PRP Skin Rejuvenation?
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is prepared from a sample of your own blood using a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich component. It may be used as part of a skin rejuvenation treatment plan.
What Can PRP Be Used For?
PRP may be considered for concerns involving skin texture, tone, fine lines and overall skin quality. It may also be combined with microneedling or RF microneedling where clinically appropriate.
How Is PRP Prepared?
At Plasma Healthcare, blood is processed using the HORIZON 6 Flex centrifuge. Depending on the treatment plan, additional preparation methods may also be used.
Preparing for PRP
Patients may be asked to provide recent blood pathology results and should be well hydrated before treatment. Medication and medical history should be reviewed beforehand.
Who May Not Be Suitable?
PRP may not be suitable for people with active infection, low platelet counts, anaemia, some blood disorders, active malignancy, haemodynamic instability, chronic liver disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Aspirin and NSAID use should be discussed with the practitioner before treatment.
What to Expect
Temporary swelling, redness, bruising or tenderness can occur after treatment. Results vary depending on the area treated and individual response.
